Family Base Camp

Family Sea Kayaking Trips in BajaBring the family down to Baja for a sea kayaking trip on the Sea of Cortez during spring break. On your first day you will have very close encounters with mother Gray whales and their young in their breeding lagoons on the Pacific side.

For the next five days from our comfortable base camps on Carmen and Danzante Islands, our kid friendly staff will make sure that the children are as active as they want to be. They can go snorkeling, fishing, paddling, beachcombing, make sand castles or hang out. We will also take trips in the panga to see the giant Blue whales.

Parents can be off duty or involved depending on their inclination at the time. The best part for most Moms (and Dads of course) is that all the delicious, fresh food and horsd'oeuvres will be happily cooked and served by the Sea Trek Baja kayaking staff.

Gray Whales in Baja California on the Sea of CortezDate: February 18-24, 2011

Cost: $1450 per person includes 2 hotel nights, day of Gray whale watching in Magdelana Bay, Blue whale watching in Sea of Cortes, all food, guides, kayaks and gear, motor support boat, Marine Park fees, tents, snorkeling gear, wet suits.

Ages: We suggest a minimum age of 9 yrs. old but we have taken kids as young as 5 yrs. Call us if you want to talk about age appropriateness.

The itinerary is similar to our Classic Islands trip except that we will stay at two of the best campsites on Carmen and Danzante. Our experience has told us that families get more out of the week by having time to settle into base camps and minimizing the logistics of breaking camp each day. The support boat is always in radio contact with the kayak guides and is available to give rides to any kids that have had enough paddling and are ready to be at camp. This flexibility is essential for a successful family adventure.
